Want to learn to fly? Want to acquire an additional certificate or rating?
Need an aircraft checkout or a BFR?

Hi, my name is Brian Harrison and I am a FAA Certificated Flight Instructor. Together, we will make your goal of piloting an aircraft a reality. I am committed to teaching non-flyers about the fascinating and rewarding experience of general aviation. After all, flying is the second most fun thing I know to do – landing is the first!

I have been flying for pleasure since 1974 when I learned at Cessna's Employees Flying Club. I grew up in Cessna's single-engine engineering department and gained valuable experience working with the engineers & mechanics of experimental aircraft. Additionally I've acquired:
1990 – Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI)
1996 – Commercial Pilot Certificate
1993 – Instrument Rating
1997 – Flight Instructor (CFI)
1998 – Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFI-I)

Since 1991, I have provided ground instruction to hundreds of potential flight students at Boeing Employee Training and Development and Cowley Co. Comm. College. I flight instruct at Boeing Employees' Flying Club, Wichita State University Flying Club, and independently. I've also held officer positions in the Boeing Employees' Flying Club.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME…

You will receive all flight instruction and experience required by the FAA in order to be eligible to pass the appropriate check ride. I will:
  • teach you how to perform the elements listed in the FAA Practical Test Standards
  • sign you off when you prove to me that you are comfortable in actions as demonstrated by your SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND JUDGMENT
  • not be your nursemaid – I will be your guide to this most enjoyable experience
  • work as best I can to satisfy your schedule
Also, we'll do some extra-curricular things like take tower tours, visit the FAA Automated Flight Service Station, etc.

  • WHAT I EXPECT FROM YOU…

You are responsible for setting the pace of your instruction. You should be a "willing to learn more than what is required" type of student that has a positive/can-do attitude. You should be well versed in the material(s) required for a specific lesson and your mind should be on the business of flying during the lesson. You are expected to be on time to all lessons.

    TESTIMONIALS FROM CLIENTS...

"... I was telling my wife this morning that I thought you are a very articulate CFI…..I even recommended that she take a few lessons from you so she could familiarize herself with the airplane. I think it would give her more confidence in flying with me if she knew some of the basics of how to fly the airplane." Steve H.

"I was a little nervous since it had been several years and I knew that things had changed since 9-11-2001, but Brian quickly assured me that "there was nothing to be nervous about" and we got started with my bi-annual and aircraft checkout. Brian has taught and shown me many new things that have been very beneficial since I have started flying. I have had four other instructors in the past, they all have contributed to my success as a pilot, but Brian has shown a whole new way, having fun while being safe and achieving my goals, thanks Brian." Steven P.
